We do advise to wear tone-on-tone. For example, with blue shoes you wear braces with the shade of blue woven into them somewhere. This does not have to be matching blue (preferably not even), the color does not necessarily have to be in the leather: as long as it is the same blue color family. And the color tones are recognizable.

How do I combine my suspenders with sneakers?

Sneakers are colored, black or white but rarely or never exactly match the color of your suspenders. Ideal, because that way you can wear everything with your sneakers. Experiment happily and combine for example narrow braces with nice white shoes for the hipster look or wear your old Nike Air Max sneakers under your suit again. This creates fresh, authentic combinations that will make you stand out in a classy way.

What shoes do I wear with clip-on braces (non-leather)?

Clip-on suspenders are often worn with casual outfits. So, how do you go about the shoes in this case? Well, you have a few good choices. If you plan on wearing suspenders in black or brown tones, you can choose to follow the rule for leather suspenders. And go for brown or black brogue shoes. On the other hand, you can also match your shoes or sneakers with your pants or shirt and let the suspenders stand on their own. It is also fine to wear black sneakers with, for example, a pair of black elastic suspenders.

Colored suspenders come in all shapes and sizes. You have them with or without loops. And in all widths. The rule of thumb also applies here, of course, with colored suspenders with brown or black leather loops you should wear shoes in a similar color brown or black.
